Hydro Flask Insulated Water Bottle Review

Review of eco-friendly, BPA free stainless steel bottle keeps drinks cold for 24 hours – even in the hot sun on the boat, by the pool or in car all day

Hydroflask reviewI have to admit that I wasn’t too thrilled with my first try at eco-friendly water bottles. When I put ice water in them they quickly became dripping wet from condensation. The stainless steel shell was too cold to hold and it seemed to give the water a bit of a tin taste.

But with all the water we drink on our boat (typically a case a weekend in the heat of summer), we thought we should try to cut back on all those plastic bottles and try another drinking bottle style. Plastic water bottles are not only bad for the environment, but they could potentially leach BPA chemicals into the water when the water heats up in the bottle.

Well, the other week our new Hydro Flasks Drinking Bottles arrived from Amazon and I was simply amazed by the first time I used it that I had to write a review on Hydro Flask water bottles for boating.

Review of Hydro Flask Insulated Water Bottle – Really Stays Ice-cold for up to 24 Hours

They say the water inside the Hydro Flask insulated water bottles stays cold for up to 24 hours… and they were not joking! For my first test, I put a handful of ice cubes and some filtered water from my fridge in the Hydro Flask bottle. The water bottle sat in my hot car all day while running errands. Everytime I reached for a sip of water it was still cold… and still had ice! At one point the car got so hot when I left it sit for hours (90 degree day) that the outside felt a bit warm. But the water was STILL cold inside!

The size of the bottle mouth is pretty good for an insulated water bottle too. Its not too wide that it feels awkward to drink from it (and cause spills down your face), but its wide enough to put ice cubes in it (even big ice cube tray sized ice cubes).

Hydro Flask Insulated Water Bottle is Stainless Steel and BPA Free

What makes the Hydro Flask Drinking Bottles unique is the fact that it is made of high quality 18/8 stainless steel instead of aluminum liners in other drinking bottles. When you put ice cold water in it the bottle doesn’t sweat at all – keeping the beverage better insulated. The double wall insulation keeps cold drinks cold for more than 24 hours and hot drinks hot for at least 12 hours.

The fact that these insulated water bottles are BPA free means chemicals will not leach into the drink.

Buying Hydro Flask Drinking Bottles Online

I’m sure you can find these water bottles a lot of places, but we ordered our bottles online through Amazon. Shipping from Amazon is always fast & easy with Amazon… so you can have them in time for your next weekend on the boat!

Amazon shows you the 8 different colors with a view of the bottle in each color. Two sizes are available – 18 ounce or 24 ounce. My review of the Hydro Flask was based on the 18 ounce size that we own – we found that the 18 ounce Hydro Flask size was plenty big enough and easiest to handle for drinking water.

We have two more coming tomorrow! 😉

Those bottles actually look good and hardwearing, and I love anything green. Glad you showed me.
